12. Her love of Victorian castles
This is JK Rowling’s former mansion in Edinburgh, Scotland. Doesn’t it give you that Hogwarts vibe? Rowling does indeed have a special place in her heart for Victorian-style house. Since the day she made her huge fortune, she has bought one Victorian mansion after another.
This particular 19th century mansion was put up for sale in 2012. The asking price was £2.25 million. It may not seem as worth it, but the special-built garden office where Rowling wrote her Harry Potter books did lift its price a good deal.
Besides this Edinburgh castle, Rowling also has a $7-million mansion located in Georgia, West London. But today, she is living with her husband and children in a family house in Scotland.
Rowling also likes to own exclusive vehicle like a luxury yacht. She bought a 155-feet-long Amphitrite from Johnny Depp for $22 million. But less than a year later, she sold it for only $7 million. Ouch.
