N8. Barkhad Abdi – Captain Phillips – $65,000
Many people consider that Barkhad Abdi was the best part of Paul Greengrass’ Somalian priate flick, Captain Phillips.
But this guy didn’t get the money he deserved. At least not like Tom Hanks did, anyway.
The movie, Captain Phillips had a budget of $55 million, but our guy, Barkhad Abdi received a surprisingly low salary of $65,000 for his brilliant performance.
Barkhad Abdi himself won the prestigious BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
They decided to pay him with a minimum rate for a feature film which is $60,000, considering that it was Abdi’s first film.
Of course, the money went as quick as came, and now this guy is having financial troubles, again.
