Hitler’s Abandoned Nazi Holiday Camp Reopens as a Luxury Resort
Take a look inside Hitler’s abandoned Nazi holiday camp that reopened as a luxury resort! Check out the amazing pictures here!
Called hotel Prora, this former holiday camp for Nazis reopened its gates to the public after it went through massive renovation.
The former Nazi holiday camp is now a luxury apartment complex and you can go spend a night there too!
Sitting on the seaside of Rugen Island, the resort features eight identical buildings that spread over three miles.
The structure, built by Adolf Hitler in 1936 to serve as a holiday camp for 20,000 Nazi workers is now a place with amazing views.
His plans for the concrete structure faded in 1939 when the World War II broke out. The building, which meant to become the Baltic Butlins of the Third Reich remained untouched until some developers transformed it.
Who transformed the camp into a luxury resort?
After decades no one visited the property, Prora Solitaire developers started transforming it into a modern-day apartment complex.
All eight buildings have undergone some drastic changes since the first time Hitler built them.
From all, four of them are now luxury apartments, while the Soviet army blew up the remaining.
Shortly after the reopen the four buildings have already sold all their apartments. It is a lot more awesome than what Hitler had in mind.
The kitchens feature granite-style worktops, clean angles and modern appliances.
The rooms in the luxurious resort have opened and are like a fresh chapter in the story of an idea abandoned more than 60 years ago.
Somewhere between 500 to 600 forced laborers had to work on Prora’s original construction, according to some witnesses.
The Chief Historian at one of the site’s private museums doesn’t think the controversial past is easy to forget.
Katja Lucke said: “This is a place where 20,000 people were to be groomed to work and wage war.”
While the resort opened to the public, the work for all apartments is set to finish around 2022.
Have you visited the resort yet? Would you want to?
