An item can trigger a bid fight if it is valuable. And what makes an item valuable is either its rarity or its history. This Porsche 356A GS Carrera Speedster definitely hits the mark in terms of historical value.
Porsche 356 was the first automobile production from Porsche. In fact, the project started even before the company moved to its headquarter in Germany today. Based on that fact alone (and that it was previously owned by a celebrity), it should come as no surprise that someone bid it for $1,540,000.
This particular car was produced back in 1958. It is powered by a 1.3-liter 2-cylinder OHV engine. This four-cam Carrera engine was initially meant for spyder race cars only. But then it became available first with this 356A model. Not bad for an old car, huh?
