8. 1974 PORSCHE CARRERA RS 3.0
With a six-cylinder Boxer, air-cooled, one upper camshaft each side, the three-litre Carrera offered a fair amount of racing capability.
Equipped with its wide wings and new spoiler shape, the RS 3.0 was almost twice as expensive as the 2.7 RS, and sold around 109 exemplars.
The Carrera series represented the start of the evolution away from the classic 911 towards the models we all know and love today.
With a self-supporting bodywork with front independent suspension on transverse links and damper struts, longitudinal torsion bars, stabilisers, rear independent suspension on lateral links and transverse torsion bars, and 230 hp, the 1974 Porsche Carrera RS 3.0 could run at 250 km/h.
