14. Venetian Macau, Macau ($2.98 billion)
That is not Venice, Italy, one of the top 15 most expensive summer destinations. Designed by Aedas, that is its replica in Cotai Strip, Macau. This 980,000 m2 casino resort is the world’s 7th largest building by floor area.
At the man-built San Luca canal within the building, you get to go from one casino to another or to the hotel area on a Gondola. If you are lucky, you will be traveling with a singing Gondoliere.
This building is actually owned by the Las Vegas Sands of United States. In fact, you can find a similar resort there with the same model and name, The Venetian Las Vegas.
Venetian Macau was built in 2005. The construction cost was $2.4 billion or $2.98 billion today. This building has 39 floors and 225-meter height.
