With that being said, the price of the wine grew rapidly, even more when they noticed his initials “Th J” etched on the bottle.
However, its authenticity has been the subject of speculation, with experts split on the matter. After more than 20 years, its authenticity is still in question.
It was believed he purchased the bottle of wine, during the time that he served as ambassador to France, when he often traipsed out to Bordeaux and Burgundy looking for wine for his cellar back stateside.
