12. Tsingtao (Sales Revenue: $4.2 billion)
We are back to another Chinese beer, Tsingtao. The Tsingtao Brewery contributes 4.7% of the global market share. From the sales of this beer, it generates $4.2 billion of revenue. And for the past decade, that number has grown three folds. Perhaps, Chinese population growth has something to do with most of it.
Tsingtao Brewery is China’s second largest. Surprisingly, before the 1980s, most of the company’s products were exported overseas. The country’s underdeveloped beer market forced them to do so. Today, this beer dominates 15% of Chinese beer market.
So, it should come as no surprise that compared to other Chinese breweries, Tsingtao is more foreign-friendly. The company’s marketing strategy is more global. You can tell just by comparing their websites.
A 330-ml bottle of Tsingtao Lager is sold at around $34 per two dozen pack.
