Sylvester Stallone is an American actor, filmmaker, and screenwriter, and his current net worth is $[Net Worth].
The older son of Frank Stallone Sr., a hairdresser and beautician, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Stallone, an astrologer, former dancer and promoter of women’s wrestling, Sylvester was born in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
When his mother was giving birth to him, she suffered some complications during labor which forced her doctor to use two pairs of forceps and accidentally severed a nerve and caused paralysis in parts of his face.
The lower left side of his face is paralyzed, including parts of his tip, tongue, and chin, which were the result of an accident that gave him his famous snarling look and slightly slurred speech.
When he was about nine years old, his parents divorced and he was left to live with his mother, who also got him a job when he was 16, at her beauty salon, because he did badly in school.
Before attending the Miami Dade College and the University of Miami he enrolled at Notre Dame Academy and Lincoln High School in Philadelphia.
He first started his acting career with small parts in films like The Party at Kitty and Stud’s (1970), and Klute (1971), but got a radical career change when starred in The Lords of Flatbush (1974).
Thanks to his performance on the teen gang film The Lords of Flatbush, other parts in films and television came short after.
He wanted to be recognized as a screenwriter more than he wanted to act in films, and inspired by Muhammad Ali-Chuck Wepner fight in Cleveland, he wrote a script about it.
The script was about a random fighter who was given the opportunity of his life to challenge for the heavyweight title. Did you guess?
Yes, it is about Rocky (1976), a film that became “the stuff of cinematic legends”, which got 10 Academy Award nominations and won the Best Picture Award.
It became one of the most financially successful movie franchises in history.
After Rocky, a lot of opportunities and a lot of doors were opened for the aspiring actor. The second movie from the Rocky franchise, released in 1979, wasn’t as successful as the first, but it still made big money at box office.
Then after two roles in relative small films, he was drawn back to play Rocky again, and it did it for the third time with Rocky III (1982).
After that, he retired for a couple of years, just to come back playing another hero in another bankable franchise, this time Rambo.
This time he played John Rambo, the creation of Canadian-born writer David Morrell, and his novel was adapted to the screen.
No one expected the movie to be so successful, but audiences were delighted about the story that had a lot to say about the Vietnam War.
After the first Rambo, another one followed with Stallone reprising his role once again in 1985 for First Blood Part II.
The film, which drew some bad publicity, did well on box office, which was enough to make Stallone one of the top male actors in the 1980s.
Then he did two other Rocky movies, and after that he continued to release amazing movies, including another Rambo (1988), and Oscar (1991).
Everybody has noticed that for Stallone age is not a problem and to prove it he brought back boxer Rocky Balboa (2006), and Vietnam veteran Rambo (2008).
He has a part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is due to be released in 2017.
