Louis C.K. is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, and editor and his current net worth is $80 million.
Born in Washington, D.C. as the son of Mary Louise, a software engineer, and Luis Székely, an economist, his family moved to his father’s home country, Mexico.
Growing up in Mexico his first language was Spanish and not until the family moved back to U.S. that he learned English.
At seven years old his family left Mexico and settled in Boston. After they moved to Boston, he expressed his wish to become a writer and comedian.
Three years later his parents divorced and his mother had to raise C.K. and his three sisters all by herself.
After work his mother would come home and watch “bad” TV shows, which inspired him to work on television.
As a teenager he attended and later graduated from Newton North High School, alongside future Friends star, Matt LeBlanc.
Upon graduating he started working as an auto mechanic and at a public access TV cable station in Boston.
Working in public access TV enabled him with the tools and technical knowledge he needed to make his short films and later TV shows.
He made his first attempt at stand-up in 1985 during an open mic night at a comedy club in Massachusetts.
For his five minutes on stage, he had material only for two minutes. After the experience he didn’t perform for again for two years.
