Jimmy Kimmel is an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer and his current net worth is $45 million.

Born in Brooklyn, New York as the eldest of three children of Joan, a homemaker, and James John Kimmel, an IBM executive, he grew up in the neighborhood of Mill Basin.

Raised as a Catholic he served as an altar server, as a child.

At the age of nine, he and his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he went and graduated from Ed W. Clark High School. After which he attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas for one year, and Arizona State University for two years.

From the University of Nevada he received an honorary degree in 2013.

Kimmel started his career as a radio show host, while still in high school. He used to host a Sunday night interview show on UNLV’s college station, KUNV.

While a student at Arizona State University, he became a popular caller to the KZZP-FM afternoon show, hosted by Mike Elliott and Kent Voss.

A few years later he got his first paying job alongside Voss as morning drive co-host of The Me and Him Show.

After two different radio stations fired him and Voss, he went to host his own radio show at KCMJ in California.

While working at KCMJ he kept persuading younger Carson Daly to drop out of college and become his intern.

He then landed a job at KROQ-FM in Los Angeles, where he spent five years as the Jimmy the Sports Guy for the Kevin and Bean morning show.

His television career started as part of the duo alongside Ben Stein on the game show Win Ben Stein’s Money.

During that time, he co-hosted and produced Comedy Central’s The Man Show.

In 2001 he left Win Ben Stein’s Money, and thanks to the success of The Man Show he created, and produced alongside Carolla and Kellison, Crank Yankers, under the name Jackhole Productions.

At around the same time, he produced and co-wrote the feature film Windy City Heat, which won a Festival Prize of the Comedia Award for Best Film at the Montreal Comedy Festival in 2004.

In 2003 he left The Man Show, to host his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, on ABC.

Despite its name, the show hasn’t actually aired live since 2004. After they were unable to properly beep censor a barrage of swearing from actor Thomas Jane.

The American comedian is the host and executive producer of his late night talk show.

In 2012 and again in 2016, he has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as the Academy Awards in 2017.
