Wayne Rooney is an English professional footballer and his current net worth is $170 million.
Born in Croxteth, Liverpool, to Jeanette Marie and Thomas Wayne Rooney, he is of Irish descent.
Growing up as a Roman Catholic with younger brothers Graham and John, they attended Our Lady and St Swithin’s primary school. They also attended De La Salle School.
He started his football career playing for Liverpool Schoolboys. During his time there he scored 72 goals in one season, a record he held until May 2010.
At nine he scored 99 goals for Copplehouse boys’ club in the local Walton and Kirkdale junior league before Everton scout Bob Pendleton saw him.
He joined Everton the same year and also acted as the Everton mascot for the Merseyside game against Liverpool.
For Everton’s under-10s and 11s, he scored 114 goals in 29 games in the 1995-96 season.
He continued to perform remarkably and even became a member of Everton’s first team squad for their training camp in Austria.
While there he scored his first senior goal in a 3-1 friendly victory.
On 17 August the same year he made his senior debut in a 2-2 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
There he became the second youngest first-team player in Everton history, after Joe Royle.
Five days before his 17th birthday he scored a last-minute winning goal against Arsenal. That goal made him the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, a record surpassed twice since then.
He signed his first professional contract in 2003. The contract made him one of world’s highest-paid teenagers.
In August 2004 he transferred on request, despite Everton’s new contract valued at £50,000 per week. Everton accepted Manchester United’s bid at the end of the month after a £25.6 million deal broke.
Back then it became the highest fee ever paid for a player under 20 years old.
He made his Manchester United debut in September in a 6-2 game win over Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Champions League.
Thanks to his performance, he became the youngest player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League, at 18 years.
