See Inside Obama’s New $5.3 million Washington DC Home
Take a look inside Obama’s new $5.3 million Washington DC home!
Now that another person is going to take over Presidency of the United States and move into the White House, the previous one must move to another residency.
Knowing this, with the election of Donald Trump and him moving out of his penthouse, and moving to the White House, the current President must find another place to live and so, the Obamas are moving to a $5.3 million home in DC.
Yes, it is considerably smaller than the current residence of the Obamas, but this house is still worthy residence to house an ex-president.
Where is the penthouse located?
Located in a great neighborhood in the nation’s capital, the house was built in 1928, and features 8,200 square feet with nine bedrooms.
The property was listed for sale at $5.3 million before going off the market in May. The Obamas will lease the residency from Joe Lockhart, who served as press secretary in President Bill Clinton’s White House, until their younger daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
President Obama has declared that he and his family will continue living in Washington even after leaving the White House in January. The reason is pretty simple and obvious, so that his youngest daughter, Sasha can finish school.
The 8,200-square-foot mansion in the Kalorama neighborhood of D.C, features nine-bedroom and eight-and-a-half bathrooms.
How much they paid for it?
And it looks like the Obamas have settled on a neighborhood on a home that was sold for $5.3 million, according to Redfin data, who also estimated the current value of the house at $6.3 million.
Compared to the perks of being the First Family, the full staff, the plane, the 55,000 square feet house with 35 bathrooms, an impressive garden, a basketball court, a movie theater and a bowling alley, this house is a bit “small”.
“The adjustment to the new house will undoubtedly be easier for the current First Family than it will be for the Trumps, if they have to leave their 24-carat floating Versailles on Fifth Ave for the comparatively cramped confines of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”
“Barack and Michelle chose a $5.3 million home that does afford them a certain amount of privacy and presidential dignity.” a source has declared for a newspaper.
And we can’t agree more. It’s on a quarter-acre in the same neighborhood that five former presidents settled into, so we think it’s a pretty good deal.
What are the penthouse’s features?
Other features this house has are: a courtyard, a terrace, a formal garden, a two-car garage and parking for 10 vehicles, according to Zillow.
They will need space to accommodate the Secret Service members who will still protect the family even after a new president is taking his place in the office.
