Jimmy Fallon is an American comedian, television host, and musician and his current net worth is $46 million.

Born as James Thomas Fallon, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, to Gloria and James W. Fallon, he has one sister.

The family moved nearby to Saugerties, for his father’s job, shortly after his birth.

Growing up, he attended St. Mary of the Snow, a Roman Catholic elementary school in Saugerties.

He has considered becoming a priest, inspired by his experiences as an altar boy. But while growing up, he started showing more interest to comedy.

He’d spend many nights recording the radio program The Dr. Demento Show, from where he ‘learned’ both comedy and music.

As a teenager, Fallon made an obsession for the late-night comedy program SNL (Saturday Night Live), watching it religiously.

Alongside his sister they would re-enact sketches from the show with friends.

Fallon used to impress his parents with different impersonations such as of actor James Cagney.

At thirteen he started playing guitar and later he would go to perform comedy and music in contests and shows.

While at Saugerties High School, he performed in most stage productions and became twice a class social director.

He is the winner of comedian’s contest with an impression of Pee-Wee Herman.

After attending The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York for a computer science major, he switched to communications in his senior year.

Meanwhile, he dropped out of college to pursue a comedy career, but in 2009 he went back to receive his Bachelor of Arts in communications.

While in school, Fallon often took stand-up gigs on the weekends. By the age of 21, he secured a manager and got bookings.

He would often do stand-up comedies at the Improv, where he gained $7.50 per set. Later he joined classes with Groundlings, an improv comedy troupe.

As for his acting career he appeared in the feature film The Scheme. In Father’s Day, he has no line, but you can still see him in the background.

Growing up he wanted to join SNL, and that desire continued through the years. After two years of working with the comedy group, he auditioned for the program, but didn’t get in.

While cast in a pilot presentation of The WB, his manager sent videotapes to Marci Klein and Ayala Cohen, producers for SNL.

By the age of 23, he has landed his second audition for the program. He started his audition with impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Adam Sandler, who recently left the show.

He debuted on SNL as a featured player at the beginning of the show’s 24th season in 1998.

By his fourth episode, where he performed Halloween-themed versions of songs by popular artists, he became a star.

Thanks to his strong female fan-base, he received many letters from fans and started to become the subject of many fan sites.

He quickly became the SNL’s most featured mimic, with impressions of Robert de Niro, Jerry Seinfeld, and Howard Stern, as well as starred as many original characters.

While performing at the show, he released a book comprising e-mail exchanges with his sister, titled I Hate This Place: A Pessimist’s Guide to Life (1999). Later, he filmed a minor role for the film Almost Famous.

Initially he only wanted to spend three years at the SNL, but he became persuaded to star on for an additional three. During the time he started the Weekend Update, with writer Tina Fey, which made him even more famous.

Around the same time, he left the show, and parlayed his SNL success into co-hosting the 2001 MTV Movie Awards and 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.

He has also recorded his debut comedy album The Bathroom Wall (2002), which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album.

At the beginning of 2004 he started pursuing a movie career. He has starred as the lead character in Taxi, which performed badly at box office.

After the failure he started in another film, in the romantic comedy Fever Pitch, alongside Drew Barrymore. This film also performed badly.

It followed a period of bad luck for Jimmy, but on the set of Fever Pitch, he met his future wife, producer Nancy Juvonen.

Before his final season at SNL, the producer mentioned that Fallon would be a great fit for the NBC’s Late Night franchise.

SNL’s producer urged NBC to give Fallon a holding deal in 2007, so that he couldn’t go elsewhere.

To prepare for his role of a late-night host, he went to tour campuses and comedy clubs for eight months.

In 2008, he became the successor of Conan O’Brien’s Late Night. Late Night With Jimmy Fallon premiered in March 2009 to mixed reviews.

As of 2013, he is earning a salary of $11 million a year for his work on the show.

Throughout his career and since he began hosting the show, he has won several awards and nominations, including a Grammy in 2013 for Best Comedy Album.
