Meryl Streep is an American actress and philanthropist and her current net worth is $95 million.
Born as Mary Louise Streep as the oldest of three children of Mary Worlf Wilkinson, a commercial artist and art editor, and Harry William Streep Jr., a pharmaceutical executive, she is of German, Swiss, and Irish descent.
Raised as a Presbyterian in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, alongside her two younger brothers Dana David and Harry Williams III, she is one of the most famous actresses.
Growing up, she attended Cedar Hill Elementary School as well as the Oak Street School. In her Junior High debut, she portrayed Louise Heller, in the play The Family Upstairs.
At a young age, she moved with her family to Bernardsville, New Jersey, where she went to Bernards High School.
She became one of the few students to sing at a school recital, which led her to take opera lessons from Estelle Liebling.
However, she quit after four years, because she didn’t feel and understand what she sang.
Despite that she played in several school plays, while in high school, she became interested in serious theater after she starred in the play Miss Julie.

In 1971 she graduated with a BA cum laude from college, before applying for an MFA from Yale.
At Yale, she paid for her school by working as a waitress and typing, as well as appearing in over a dozen of stage production on a year. She used to work so hard that eventually developed ulcers.
At some point in her life, she wanted to quit acting and switch to studying law.

One of her first professional jobs came after Yale, when she appeared at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference. While there she acted in five plays on a period of six weeks.
Later, upon her moving to New York City, she received a role in a production of Trelawny of the Wells at the Public Theater, alongside Mandy Patinkin and John Lithgow.
After which, she went to start in five more roles in her first year in New York.
During that time, she began a relationship with Cazale, and moved with him until his death, three years later.
Meryl started in the musical Happy End on Broadway, earning an Obie for her performance in the off-Broadway play Alice at the Palace.
The performance of Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver (1976) had a great impact on her, who inspired her.
From that point, she started auditioning for film roles, and underwent an unsuccessful audition for King Kong.
She has continued to work on Broadway and earning many nominations and awards. In 1977, she had her first feature film role, alongside Jane Fonda, in Julia.
She mentioned Jane as having a lasting influence on her as an actress, despite the wish to never come back to acting.
While performing in her stage production of The Cherry Orchard, Robert De Niro saw her and suggested that she play the role of his girlfriend in The Deer Hunter (1978).
