#9 Taffeite – $1.500 – 2.500 per carat
Discovered in 1945 by a gemologist, Richard Taaffe, this mineral can be found mostly in Southern Tanzania and Sri Lanka.
According to some experts, huge amounts of Taaffeite can also be found in Madagascar.
Because it’s one of the world’s rarest minerals, it is used only as a gemstone.
Taaffeite comes mostly clear in color, but red, purple and blue taaffeites were found.
