This House Has A Swimming Pool on the Entire Second Floor!

This Villa Clessidra by LAAV Architects Has A Swimming Pool on the Entire Second Floor

Have you seen this Villa Clessidra by LAAV Architects? It has a swimming pool on the entire second floor!

We don’t get to see every day a house with an entire floor converted into a swimming pool. I mean, we’ve seen plenty of crazy pools, ones more amazing than the others. Remember the one that is suspended on two buildings? Yea, but not a second floor converted into a pool.

This is why this house is even crazier and more awesome than the other we’ve seen, because there is nothing like it (so far anyway).

There are a lot of indoor pools as well, but this gotta be the best. LAAV Architects came up with the best idea, to be honest.

To create Villa Clessidra, Laertis-Antonios Ando Vassiliou took inspiration from the works of Tadao Ando, Alvaro Siza and Tom Kundig.

“The concept came about serendipitously about eight months ago when a potential client approached the architect to build a groundbreaking residence in Japan. Like Ando Vassiliou’s internet-breaking project—Casa Brutale (the house inside a cliff), the client wanted the new house to feature a rooftop pool as well.”

Luckily, the idea wouldn’t work, because of some restrictions, but Ando Vassiliou had to look for other options and eventually came up with the unprecedented idea of turning the entire second floor into a giant swimming pool.

Not like the other designs, this swimming pool is basically an entire floor.

Villa Clessidra has three floors in total, with stairs passing through each story to let the people leaving there with a seamless transition.

The villa spans across 200-square-meters, boasting a south-facing façade that is able to retract completely.

I have to crush your dreams for a bit and say that this stunning living space is a concept, which is hypothetically located in a pine forest in the Netherlands.

For a concept it is pretty bold to feature an interior layout that has its entire second floor transformed into a swimming pool.

The exterior of the house looks pretty rad as well and it is built of a steel frame, clad in foam-board molded concrete panels and an expansive glazing.

What is more amazing is that the nature is present and invades the house through its south-facing glazed façade.

The interior layout includes a living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor. Moving upstairs, the entire space of the second floor is used for the glass-encased swimming pool.

More stairs lead to sleeping quarters, which are split between two bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom.

The master bedroom has a glazed floor beneath the bed, from which one can view the swimming-pool below.

“Expected to cost $2 million to build, there’s also the issue of funding Villa Clessidra. As of July, the potential client in Japan backed out of the project due to budget issues. Yet, in light of the viral success of Casa Brutale, Ando Vassiliou remains optimistic about promoting this “challenging and unique” project.”

What do you say? Are you going to invest more than $2 million on a concept house? I find this idea to be actually good, to be honest.
