Rick Ross is American rapper and entrepreneur, and his current net worth is $45 million.
Born in Clarksdale, Mississippi and raised in Carol City, Florida, William Leonard Roberts II attended Miami Carol City Senior High School.
Upon graduating from high school he went to historically black college Albany State University on a football scholarship.
Until his resignation in 1997 he used to work as a correctional officer. At the beginning of his career, under the Suave House Records, he initially made his debut under the nickname Teflon Da Don.
With the song Ain’t Shhh to Discuss, he made his recording debut on Erick Sermon’s lone album for DreamWorks.
He changed his stage name from Teflon Da Don to Rick Ross in the mid-2000s, inspired from the former drug kingpin Freeway Rick Ross.
He toured with rapper Trick Daddy and made guest performances on other Slip-n-Slide album, while signed to Slip-n-Slide.
In 2006 he released his debut album titled Port of Miami. The album topped the US Billboard 200 album chart, having sold 187,000 units during its first week.
The album’s second single, Push It, became the theme song from the gangster film Scarface.
Port of Miami got the Gold certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in 2006.
When his second album got into the market, did as good as its predecessor Port of Miami.
The single, Speedin’, featuring R. Kelly charted at #21 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot Singles.
Then he went and founded the record label Maybach Music Group, and released his other seven studio albums under the label. In 2017 he released his ninth album, Rather You Than Me.
He became the first artist signed to Diddy’s management company Ciorc Entertainment. In January 2016 after much speculation, Rick Ross signed a solo deal with Epic Records, reuniting him with L.A. Reid.
As of 2017, Ross currently owns several different Wingstop restaurant locations.
