T-Pain is American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer and his current net worth is $45 million.
Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Najm’s stage name is short for Tallahassee Pain, which he chose because the hardships he lived there.
He started liking music from an early age. Then the friend of the family, gospel jazz artist/producer Ben Tankard let him spend time with him and twist the knobs at his recording studio.
At ten years old, he transformed his bedroom into a music studio. He used a keyboard, a beat machine and a four-track recorder.
In 2004 he joined the rap group Nappy Heads. Akon heard T-Pain’s version I’m Fucked Up, of his single Locked Up, and immediately signed him to Konvict Muzik.
Now he might be a famous rapper, but at the beginning of his career he used to sing instead of rap.
A year later he recorded and released his debut album titled Rappa Ternt Sanga. The album, which reached #33 on the Billboard 200, got the Gold certificate by the RIAA. It sold in 500,000 units in its first week.
Then he released the lead single, I’m Sprung, which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
He started working on his second album along with Zomba Label Group as well as with Konvict Muzik and Jive Records. He released Epiphany in 2007.
The album sold 171,000 records in its first week, reaching #1 on the Billboard 200. The lead single from the album, Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’), reached #1.
He made guest appearances on multiple singles from various artists including on I’m a Flirt (remix) by R. Kelly and “Good Life” by Kanye West.
“Good Life” with Kanye West later won the BET Award for Best Collaboration and nominated in several other categories. The single also won a Grammy Award for best Rap Song.
He married Amber Najm in 2003. They have three children: daughter Lyriq and sons Muziq and Kaydnz Kodah (born May 2009).
