20 Photos of The Caribbean Resort Where the Obamas are Vacationing Right Now
More details about the Caribbean Resort where the Obamas are vacationing right now!
Now that United States of America has Trump as its president, the formal president can have the vacation he never had!
Turns out that after you leave the presidency behind, you’ve got more time to spend with your family.
After publicly announcing that he will take his wife Michelle on a special vacation after the White House, Obama has kept his promise.
The family is currently staying on Necker Island, which is Richard Branson’s private island, and one of the most exclusive Caribbean resorts in the world.
The Obamas have arrived to the island after a short vacation in Palm Springs.
They are undoubtedly in the right for a break, but we can’t help but feel jealous.
This breath of fresh air comes after eight years of being the leaders of the free world, which makes it a well-deserved vacation.
Located in the British Virgin Islands, with only 74 acres large, and the capacity to accommodate a maximum of 34 guests, the island is a true relaxing spot.
Named after the 17th-century Dutch squadron commander Johannes de Neckere, the tropical paradise was uninhabited until the late 20th century and bought by Branson in 1978 for only $180,000.
Spending $10 million turning the island into a private retreat by building the lodgings, Branson also included a 10-bedroom Balinese-style villa.
Each room has a 360-degree views as well as many windows that allow you to feel the breeze from any direction.
The resort has two “private’” beaches, two tennis courts, two infinity pools, and a swim-up bar, a hot tub that fits 30 people, a personal chef, and around 100 employees.
The Necker Cup, a tennis tournament, is held on the island every year.
Maybe the Obamas are enjoying scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, paddle boarding, Pilates, yoga and spa treatments, or other treats this island has to offer.
Made with local stone and Brazilian hardwood, the resort has an eclectic mix of Asian antiques, Indian rugs, and Balinese bamboo furniture.
Now let’s talk prices. Starting at $4,280 a night you can rent the individual rooms, for a week minimum, and only during certain periods of time. Generally, the island is rented as a whole for $78,000 a day.
But did you know that Obamas are not the only celebrities who have vacationed here?
Among the many celebrities who have vacationed here are Princess Do, Mariah Carey, and even Nelson Mandela; Kate Moss had her 40th birthday party on Necker, and Google co-founder Larry Page had his wedding there.
And this is where they are going to live after they return from this amazing vacation.
