The young couple could no longer take the daily routine, and decided to quit their jobs, sold everything and travel the world with their cat.
We are sure that this thing happened to you too, but you were too afraid to take a step towards your freedom. We know that you wanted to quit your job so many times in the past, and just go to travel the world, but you didn’t.
Responsibilities came in the way of your happiness. But why? You shouldn’t have to take the pressure and work where you don’t like.
Which is why this couple is such an inspiration for all of us. They did what we couldn’t do it, what we thought it is wrong, not good for us.
But turns out that is not that bad as we thought, and it is not that hard to quit a job you hate, sell everything and just run away with your partner.
Because what can be better than share the amazing experiences with your partner?
The same did Matt and Jessica Johnson, who are both 32 years old. They have decided to ditch everything and make a change in their boring life.
The couple gave up the American Dream in 2008, when they quit their jobs and bought the boat. First they practiced with the boat for over three years, but eventually made it out to sea.
Matt quit his job as a sales manager and Jessica left her insurance firm career and the pair set sail around the world.
Leaving behind everything they knew, the adventurous couple left their hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 12, 2011.
“Our lives were the typical American Dream. Go to school, get married, buy a house, start a career. So far we’ve also left out the part of having 2.5 kids,” the Grand Rapids, Michigan, couple told the Daily Mail.
“For too long we had spent all of our weekends in front of the TV without ever doing anything productive or enjoyable. We realized this needed to change.”
But wouldn’t the travel together affect their relationship?
No. They say that the journey has made their ten year relationship stronger than ever, mainly because Matt and Jessica are 24/7 together.
On their travels so far, they have visited sixteen countries with only $1000 a month they managed to survive.
The couple has visited 16 countries so far, among them are: Bahaman, Jamaica, Cuba, Peru, Mexico, The Azores, Madeira of Portugal, Canary Islands of Spain, and many others.
The best part about these travels?
On their journey their furry friend Georgie, has joined. The cat is a great travel companion and has been with them since 2012 after they decided to adopt her from a no-kill shelter.
“She does very well with the sailing and is steadier on her feet than we are,” Jessica said.
“She loves sitting on the deck and watching the fish over the side of the boat when we are at anchor. We found out she can swim when she jumped overboard in Grand Cayman. She swam around the back of the boat and climbed up the ladder.”
Let’s not mention the colorful, brimming culture of South America, the turquoise, crystal waters of the Caribbean and some European-style western island they’ve been visiting.
Their story is just as inspiring as the couple who bought a dream island in Cambodia.
