Someone Bought a Harambe-Shaped Cheeto for Almost $100k from eBay!

A Harambe-Shaped Cheeto Just Sold for Almost $100K on eBay!

Now this is something: a Harambe-shaped Cheeto just sold on eBay for almost $100,000!

A Cheeto that looks like the slain gorilla Harambe was actually bought by someone who paid a lot of money for it.

The bidding for the cheese snack began at $11.99 on January 28th and ended early Tuesday morning with the winning bid of $99,900.

The ad showed a picture of the Cheeto side-by-side with a gorilla climbing a tree. The seller said he found the oddly shaped Cheeto in a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

Then the auction seems to have gotten a little help from the Twitter account “@FatKidDeals” and its 86,000-plus followers.

After that account tweeted a link to the auction Sunday evening, bids started to come in, and within 24 hours the price rocketed to over $90,000.

I don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that this Cheeto looks like a gorilla or the fact that someone paid almost $100,000 for it?!

You all know Harambe, right? It was that gorilla that became famous after his death last May. It became an internet sensation and the target of internet jokes.

It died because it was shot by handlers at the Cincinnati Zoo after dragging a small boy who had gotten into his enclosure.

People were super-mad at the handlers saying that it was unnecessary and blaming the mother for not taking care of the child.

Witnesses said the gorilla appeared to be protecting the child, while animal experts said Harambe was acting “erratically” and pointed out he was “six times stronger than a man.”

Despite the harsh comments, zoo officials said they “would make the same decision” over again to shoot Harambe.

So, this Burbank man took advantage of the love internet had for the gorilla and auctioned a Harambe-shaped Cheeto.

The seller, who asked Eyewitness News not to reveal his identity, lives in Burbank and works in Beverly Hills as a filmmaker. He noticed the Cheeto and his co-worker said, “Hey! That looks like Harambe!”

The seller, “valuestampsinc,” listed the item as “Gorilla Hot Cheetos – RARE – One of a Kind Cheetos – Harambe Gorilla,” with eBay later confirming to CNBC that the item was valid and available for sale.

An 8.3-ounce bag of Cheetos Crunchy Flamin’ Hot retails for $2.50 at Target, so I say it is safe to say that this seller hit the jackpot!
