This is London’s First LED Ice Rink Made of 500k Individual LED Lights
London’s first LED ice rink is a partnership with 7UP Free, and this year came back bigger and brighter.
With more than 8km of LED lights laid beneath the ice, the ice rink is surely something you don’t see twice in a lifetime.
Luminocity, ‘cause that’s the name of the ice rink showcases more than 16 million different colors every session and swathe skaters in a “abundance of magical light to create a truly impressive skating experience”, as the official website of the ice rink states.
“The ice rink is also fully covered by a clear roof to guarantee skating sessions whatever the weather.”
This is London’s first LED ice rink and is opened in Canary Wharf, with more than 500,000 individual LED lights lighting up the ice.
It is by far the coolest (all puns intended) ice rink of them all; it is sophisticated, has a futuristic design and is the first of its kind in London.
Visit the ice rink and you’ll be impressed by the animated experience of flashing, synchronized lights and music, all mixed together in one place.
Don’t know how to skate? It’s okay because the ice rink will also provide that for you with the help of some ice skating teachers.
There is an on-site bar and heated terrace, serving champagne, mulled wine and seasonal cocktails. Post-skate, kick off your blades and enjoy sweet and savoury food provided by Waffle On and Pulled, including slow roast lamb and toasty waffles.
Think about the most amazing hotel and mixed with champagne and lots of lights, maybe then you’ll get the picture. But you can’t really because you need to visit it and try it on.
You can do it from 4th November to 25th February 2017 and it will be opened seven days a week, including Christmas Day, with ten, hour-long skating sessions per day. Skaters get 15 minutes more per session than most ice rinks in London.
Ticket prices (includes one-hour skating session and skate hire): from £9.95 before 11am; £14.50 adult off-peak; £10.50 children off-peak. Family tickets and concessions are available.
And if you want to take a break from skating you can visit one of the 300 shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.
Moreover, on weekends and Bank Holidays visitors can enjoy three hours of free parking in the area when they spend £10 at Ice Rink Canary Wharf.
“For those less stable on the ice, the venue also has a large heated outdoor viewing terrace from which to admire the icy action. With a capacity of more than 200 people and available for private hire, the bar is suitable for Christmas parties, birthday celebrations or simply a post-skate tipple.”
