SottoStudios will turn your car into a yacht, thanks to their concept of the highly customizable vehicle, named the “Regatta”, which features a changeable inlaid hood, roof and trunk section.
The transformation will be executed by the Aria Group, which is best known for building aircraft interiors and custom cars such as the Porsche Singer 911.
“I wanted to bring a car up to the level of the Skyacht aircraft. It’s not a reproduction of a Rolls-Royce, but it’s a return to that handmade finish and Old World craftsmanship you’d expect in a car like that. Exposed joinery and craftsmanship like this are so rare in today’s world.”
However, don’t go diving into sea, because the transformation is only on the surface.
SottoStudios is not on its first unique design; he is famous for designing a plane that looks like a yacht, the Skyacht One that looks like a flying boat.
Its polished facade features a hand-painted mahogany “hull” and vertical stabilizer.
Adorned with armillary spheres and astrolabes, Regatta’s whimsical interior thrives with oceanic finishes, from decorated faucet controls that reflect the dual throttles of a vintage powerboat to the captain’s quarters covered with padded suede.
The Regatta also features handcrafted wooden joinery and marquetry in the sleek leather and wood interior.
Inspired by vintage Rolls-Royce models like the Boattail, and Torpedo, the Regatta also comes in a huge variety of colors available for both the wood and the paint of the vehicle.
“When we were done infusing the plane with the details of a handmade classic yacht, we realised we had surpassed the car that spawned it, so we went back to raise the bar and revisit the Rolls-Royce. It was so transformed, we named it Regatta [and it is] the perfect complement to any yacht or plane.”
